Job Description


Pharmacosmos is a specialist in iron therapy and our ambition is to empower healthcare professionals to provide optimal care for patients suffering from iron deficiency anaemia, which accounts for 2% of the total global disease burden.

The role of the Anaemia Midwife Advisor is to build strong relationships with midwives and midwife groups involved in the treatment of iron deficiency to ensure understanding of patient needs and the needs of healthcare systems in UK and Ireland. This is a non-promotional role, and all activities must be conducted in accordance with the ABPI Code and guidance on non-promotional roles.

The Anaemia Midwife Advisor will also be responsible for building expert knowledge within the Midwife community to ensure that our IV iron products are used in the correct way.

The position reports to the Medical Director and supports health professionals in UK and IE. Prioritisation of service activities coordinated in collaboration with Medical Director

RESPONSIBILITIES


Implementation

  • Supporting Healthcare Professionals in the implementation of optimal Iron Therapy through ‘Iron Deficiency Anaemia Educational’ workshops, as well as onsite support during the first product administration to patients in the obstetrics department
  • Follow up on Adverse Drug reactions in a timely manner
  • Support midwives who have requested training in the treatment of iron deficiency
  • Expand group of midwives with Ferric Derisomaltose experience who can train, and support midwives unfamiliar with the use of Ferric Derisomaltose
  • Work with Medical Information and Pharmacovigilance Officer to develop clinical answers to commonly asked medical enquiries and provide reactive medical information answers to healthcare professionals when appropriate
  • Support the development of midwives and midwife experts in iron deficiency care through educational projects, and work with them to secure and drive best practices in the treatment of iron deficiency
  • Identify, share, and advance optimal iron therapy practices and co-develop midwife and patient support tools 

Strategy

  • Develop company insights and strategy for working with midwives
  • Collaborate with internal obstetrics leads and contribute to commercial and medical plans
  • Collaborate with Royal College of Midwives to improve guidelines and midwife training courses
  • Lead and organise Midwife Advisory Boards where appropriate
  • Coordinate and develop activities and outputs in collaboration with HQ Nurse Manager 

Data Generation

  • Support data generation through Midwife led audits and studies
  • Coordinate with HQ Nurse Manager

Compliance

  • Maintain high standards
  • Ensure internal SOPs and processes are followed, including those around pharmacovigilance and company standards regarding the reporting and quality monitoring of activities
  • Survey health professionals’ satisfaction with the services offered

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND


  • Senior Midwife with NHS experience
  • 1-2 years industry or commercial experience
  • Experience with IV iron infusions desirable

GEOGRAPHY AND TRAVELS


The Anaemia Midwife Advisor is part of the Medical Team covering the UK and Ireland. It is a non-promotional field based role and some travelling therefore will be required throughout the region.

A number of nights away from home per year should be expected and this will be dependent on the business need. Travel by car, train, and flight are all options to accommodate this. To be fully able to support busy healthcare professionals, workshops may often be booked with short notice, so flexibility to travel and attend will be required
