Deadline: February 28, 2020 National Medical Lead

Pharmacosmos is a specialist in iron deficiency anaemia management and our aim is to become the partner-of-choice by improving patient outcomes and optimising productivity related to iron deficiency anaemia management.

The National Medical Lead is responsible for planning and implementing the national medical activities in collaboration with the team of Medical Science Liaisons and Medical Director. 

The National Medical Lead reports to the Medical Director UK/IE.

Responsibilities


  • Develop and implement medical plans in collaboration with the MSL team. 
  • Support Pharmacosmos Headquarter driven medical activities in UK/IE. 
  • Compliantly provide medical support to Pharmacosmos Headquarter driven commercial activities, where appropriate. 
  • Follow up on Adverse Drug Reactions as needed in agreement with Medical Director UK/IE. 
  • Support relevant healthcare professionals to develop publication plans for their company supported Investigator Sponsored Studies (ISSs). Ensure timelines and deadlines agreed with the healthcare professional are met. 
  • Take an active role in clinical trials: input into the clinical development plan, study design and protocols to ensure that UK needs are addressed. Proactively identify data gaps and work with relevant stakeholders to fulfil unmet needs. Drive company-sponsored studies and have full responsibility for assigned Investigator Sponsored Studies (ISSs). 
  • Work with the MSL team to enable them to support healthcare professionals who wish to publish data from their own service evaluations and audits. 
  • Define, plan, manage, implement, and evaluate prioritised customer engagement campaigns and customer projects within the company strategy aimed to expand awareness of and optimise IDA 
  • Work cross functionally with the MSL team and other appropriate internal stakeholders to define, plan, manage and execute KOL development in key therapeutic areas. 
  • Provide medical input to ensure compliance of UK and IE marketing and market access materials and activities. 
  • Develop/keep up-to-date ‘competitor and IDA insights’ and ensure relevant product/therapeutic training to sales and medical team aligned with global communication strategy and target therapeutic areas that supports high quality product knowledge
  • Support and provide input into national guidelines (e.g. NICE) and contribute to the development of compliant relationships with payer organisations (e.g. SMC) and patient organisations, in a manner that brings value to these external stakeholders. 
  • Procedures: Timely implementation of, and at all times adherence to, all SOPs relevant to the Medical Team. 
  • Pharmacovigilance: Fulfil the responsibilities defined in the pharmacovigilance SOPs related to medical enquiries and drug safety 

  • Grow Pharmacosmos’ corporate brand in UK and IE.

Time Management


The National Medical Lead is expected to spend approximately 70% with internal and external collaborators and 30% in either home or head office.

Objectives and Performance Review


Objective setting and performance review for National Medical Lead will take place minimum once yearly as per the company’s appraisal system.

Professional Background


The ideal candidate,

  • Is a Medical Doctor and has demonstrated commercial acumen. Holds good understanding of the workings of the pharmaceutical industry and has previously worked in an MSL role.
  • Has a strong understanding of the NHS; knowledge regarding Irish healthcare system is considered an advantage.
  • Has a proven track-record of translating scientific or clinical data into messages to help physicians best serve their patients and support change in clinical practices through collaboration with KOLs and strategic stakeholders.
  • The individual would require a strong drive, collaborative mind-set, and great communication skills.

Geography and Travels


The National Medical Lead covers UK and Ireland.

Regular travel within the UK is expected.
Occasionally travel to international congresses and Pharmacosmos HQ in Denmark.

A Driver’s license is required.
